The symmetrical number pairs are used in stylesheets. The advantage of their use obviously lies in their short and easy to remember notation :-)
A symmetrical number pair is made up of symmetrical
hexadecimal digits,
e.g. 11, 22, 33 ... DD, EE, FF. If each of the basic colour values is such a number
pair, CSS allows to shorten this expression,
e.g. #44CC55 becomes #4C5. To find out the explicit values
of number pairs use the following calculator or the more concise one on the
colour
transformation page.
Notice that the Netscape Palette is part of this chart
The arrangement of the colours will be changed according to the sorting method chosen. There are six possibilities to sort the colours leading to new and interesting combinations. Depending on your system you can also choose between display of the chart as a HTML-table (Opera users see Page Freezing), which loads quicker but takes quite some time for rendering, or display of the chart as a picture, which renders quickly but due to its size of approximately 300kB takes some time loading.

The following table lists the short hexadecimal number pairs with their expanded equivalents. Rows with orange background and bold font contain those values, which are part of the standard palette. Be careful with relative values, as the transformation problem might lead to slightly different colours due to rounding.
| hexadecimal | short value | absolute rgb | relative rgb |
