Internet Explorer Issues

Due to Internet Explorer’s decrepit standards support it would be a vain endeavour to list all problems and errors encountered when using this browser. I have — reluctantly — included some gentle hacks which overcome this browser’s most severe errors and incapabilities, thus enabling IE to render pages instead of ravaging them.

In my opinion Internet Explorer as it stands today slowly but surely follows in the steps of infamous Netscape Navigator 4.x and thus my principal aim with respect to IE does not lie in squandering time to achieve better rendering results for my pages in IE. I would rather try to convince you that switching browsers is the easier and better way to go. Read the Web Standards Project’s page about Happy Browsing for more information about antediluvian browsers.

As I do not want to let you stand outside in the rain I might someday find the time to change my pages to include Dean Edwards excellent IE7 extensions. For the moment I just included two behaviours:

  1. Peter Nederlof’ CSS Hover enabling IE to render the pseudo-class :hover not only for the <a /> element but for other elements as well.
  2. An adaption of Andrew Gregory’s variation of Erik Arvidsson’ PNG Behavior to enable alpha transparency for png-images
