Quotes are quotes are not quotes
The content property riddle is solved.
The problem was caused by the PHP echo construction differentiating
between single and double quotes.
Gecko’ content Quirk — an Update
A testcase demonstrates Gecko’s
correct behaviour when only few rules are applied in connection with the content
property. This means I will have to sift through my stylesheets for any rule probably
being responsible for this browser’s behaviour.
All is well that ends well
Some of you might have given up all hope of seeing an update of my pages anytime soon as nothing seemed to happen after my anouncement in May.
The reasons for my reticence were manifold, but apart from my notorious lack of time the main reason was a major harddisk-crash wiping lots of data. I saw this as a sign for a desired change and consequently installed Linux on a newly acquired system. My last work with Linux was back in 2001, thus I had to refresh my acquaintance with this operating system. Now I have chosen Gentoo-Linux, which is smoothly running on a machine with an AMD 64bit processor.
Having the system up and running saw me rescueing data from the old harddisk. Luckily I habitually backup my important data quite often, thus the actual data loss was less than initially feared. Most aggravating was the loss of some graphics, which took quite some time to reproduce.
However, now my site is — almost — finished, or what one might call publishable in the web world where nothing is static. Probably I have overlooked a couple of bugs albeit thorough testing. Pray do send me bug reports if you stumble across something which does not seem to look right or causes other problems with your browser.
That’s enough drivel for today, enjoy this site!
